PILATES

Our bodies are made up of core stability muscles that are important in the management of joint pain (eg.back, knee, shoulder, hip, neck), pelvic floor dysfunction, performance enhancement and falls prevention. We rely on our core stability muscles to control our spine and joints during everyday activities such as lifting, sport and coughing/sneezing.

When we have an injury, our core stability muscles change how they function. They no longer protect our spine and pelvis. The muscles are slower to activate and tend to work in short bursts rather than staying on as you move.

Pilates is an exercise method that focuses on retraining core stability muscles. With Pilates you learn correct posture, alignment and how to contract specific muscles of the body.

Rothwell Physiotherapy conducts individual and group Pilates sessions that are instructed by a fully qualified physiotherapist who has thorough understanding of how the human body moves and functions. The added benefit of having a physiotherapist conduct your class means that you can claim the cost of the class via your Private Health Fund!

Please note, to be able to claim via your Private Health Fund, the Health Fund companies require you to participate in an individual Physiotherapy session prior to attending the class.
